CCD Classes - UPDATES
*Taken from Bishop Wes' letter to Parents - 6th October 2020
"Our CCD program caters to students from various schools all over the island and is many cases in our Diocese, our teaching spaces are not suitable to allow for social distancing. I understand that in school students are taught in their respective "bubbles". As we must follow Bermuda Government COVID 19 regulations for schools and not that of churches, I have decided to suspend CCD classes for Grade 1 and Grades 3-8 for the upcoming year 2020-2021.
We will conduct only sacramental classes in each parish.

The Office of Religious Education offers engaging lessons that lead to higher levels of moral thinking and a deeper initiation into a life of prayer. Through exploration, discovery, and decision-making, Catholics are invited to accept the challenge to follow Jesus, learn and practice the skills needed to be active witnesses. The programs offer catechumenal methodology, using reflection on Scripture and doctrine, plus a prayer celebration in every class and during all the major seasons of the Church year. The programs aim to initiate the community of faith and challenges them to look at Scripture stories and their relevance in a new way, that begs a story to be told — and told again.
Mrs. Essie Hans, JP was appointed the Diocesan Director of Religious Education in July 2002. She directs the religious education program for children (CCD), adult education programs for parents, sponsors, and catechists. The Diocesan Sacrament programs are also directed by The Office of Religious Education under Mrs. Hans, leadership. The Diocese offers a full scholastic year of religious education starting in September through June for grades Kindergarten (5 year olds) through to Confirmation in grade 9 at age 15. For more information on the Sacraments, please contact the office of Religious Education.
